| ネパールヒマラヤ，アンナプルナ山群とフェア湖 | |
ヒマラヤの山間盆地堆積物には，最近のヒマラヤの上昇とモンスーン変動の記録が 残されている．中央ネパール，ポカラ盆地は標高830mのレッサーヒマラヤに位置し， 亜熱帯気候下にある． 直ぐ北側には8000m級のアンナプルナ山群が聳え立っており， 盆地内には大小8つの湖が分布している．その中で最大のフェア湖に流入するハーパ ン川の河口には，鳥趾状湖成デルタが形成されており，沖合には泥質の湖成層が広が っている． ネパールの首都カトマンズも，6000年前までは湖であり，北部にはこのよ うなデルタが，そして南部には泥質の湖成層が広がっていたことが推定されている （酒井ほか論文P.759〜参照）． |
