自貢恐竜博物館（中国四川省自貢市）

　自貢市は，四川省南部にある人口300万の大都市で，2000年以上の歴史をもつ塩業が盛んなために「塩都」とも呼ばれている．市の東11　kmの大山舗にある自貢恐竜博物館は，1979年工事中に偶然見つかった大量の恐竜化石産地を，そのまま覆うように建設された世界最大級の恐竜博物館で，1987年に開館した．
　写真は，入口ホールをボーンベッドのレベルから見たもので，発掘された恐竜化石がそのまま保存されるように柱が立てられて上層階が設計されている．博物館の建っている2800m2の土地からは，ジュラ紀中〜後期の恐竜200個体の化石が発掘されており，そのうち1300m2は埋蔵ホールとして上から眺められるようになっている．隣接する広さ700m2の展示ホール（口絵の写真3）には，自貢市周辺からも産出したカミナリ竜のオメイサウルス2体・シュノサウルス3体，剣竜のフアヤンコサウルス1体，ケモノ竜のガソサウルス1体などの全身骨格が展示されている．
