南極氷床内陸部の雪面の模様

Snow-surface Features in the Inland of the Antarctic Ice Sheet

　南極大陸内陸部の氷床表面の雪面模様．昭和基地から東，南極大陸をドームふじ基地に向けて進む．標高3200　mを超えると，南極高気圧圏内の風の弱い地域となり，サスツルギ（雪面の侵食地形）はほとんど発達しない．

日本南極観測隊の内陸調査旅行や輸送隊は大型の雪上車の編隊でおこなう．キャンプ地では牽引していた橇を切り離し，少し離れた場所に風上に向けて一列に雪上車を停める．吹き溜まりに埋没しないためである．
