| プラトーポイントから見たグランドキャニオンとコロラド川 | |

The Grand Canyon and Colorado River from Plateau Point，Arizona, USA グランドキャニオンは，コロラド川が刻んだ長さ500 km，幅6〜30 kmの大峡谷である．コロラド台地は，グランドキャニオンのノースリム付近に頂部（海抜約2400 m）をもつ緩やかなドーム状構造となっている．このためグランドキャニオンは，ノースリムの南側で，比高1600 mと最も深く削り込まれている．写真は，サウスリムからグランドキャニオンの南壁を3分の2下ったプラトーポイント（海抜1152 m）からの眺めで，直下400 mにはコロラド川が，右下にはノースリムとサウスリムを結ぶ最もポピュラーな遊歩道ブライトエンジェル・トレイルが見える． |
