| ブラジル・パンタナール，雨季に浸水するカピバリ川の氾濫原 | |
Inundated Flood Plain of the Capivari River in the Rainy Season, the Brazilian Pantanal パンタナールは，ラムサール条約や世界遺産（自然遺産）に登録された，世界最大級の低層湿原である．カピバリ川は，その中の代表的な間欠河川の一つで，乾季（5月〜10月）には水がほとんど消失して緑の大草原になるものの，雨季（11月〜翌年4月）には水位が上昇して広大な浸水域となる．写真は雨季の終わり（4月末）に上空から撮影したもので，低地を求めて大きく蛇行するカピバリ川の網状流と，その周辺の浸水しない微高地のカンポアルトが認められる．氾濫原内部のカンポアルトに点在する多数の白い点は，ファゼンダに粗放牧されているウシである．また，カピバリ川に沿って森林のコルジリェイラが展開し，その内部には円形湖沼のバイアや，窪地状低地のバイシャーダが分布している．世界屈指の生物多様性は，このような多様なビオトープの存在に支えられている． |
